    Seeing is a learned skill.
A blind person can not see their mother and know it is
her without either hearing or feeling or smelling.
We have to learn to see.

    • Glasses - Are Glasses good for us?
    • Strain - There are many strains that do different things to vision
    • Central Fixation - We see a big picture but we can focus our attention on small areas.
    • Palming - relaxation is important.
    • Imagination - seeing is based on knowledge
    • Shifting and Swinging - it takes a lot of information to know what things are.(Site is helped by knowledge)
    • Memory - our store of information
    • #1 Rule: Never try to see. Relaxation is the goal. If you are looking at a letter your eyes should scan over the letter almost like you are tracing it but your eyes work real fast putting together many images. It is mostly a mental thing on how you think but it is very hard to learn. If you look at a letter and say what is that your are probably staring. One trick some use is counting things. But even this is slow since the eyes move faster than you can think.
    • Understand to not see eveything the same.
(EX. See one letter darker than the letter next to it)
(Or see the top of the letter darker than the bottom)
    • Blinking in safe places is good because it helps you to not try to see
    • Small print- the key to regaining close vision
    • Imagine that you have a third eye on your forhead between both of your eyes.
This is the eye that sees. So you can not strain the other two eyes as you do
not know they exist. This is to teach you to see without straining.
    • Bilberry is known to help night vision but it is a stimulant.
It should not be talken with out a doctors advice. But it is nice to know about such things.
    • PinHole Glasses - Take a pencil and stick an hole in some paper. Some web sits charge money for this!
    • Chinese have used massaged for vision improvement for a long time.
It was also discovered that massage beneath the base of the neck would help stop the loss of hair.
    • #1 Accommodation - adjusting the eyes to see objects at varying distances
    • #2 Acuity - the ability to discern things
    • #3 Convergence - having both eyes fixd on one specific point at the same time
    • #4 Depth Perception - The ability to see objects as three-dimensional, and thus judge distance precisely
    • #5 Span of Recognition - area the retina away from the focal point in which you can recognize, interpret, and then react to what you see
    • #6 Speed of Recognition
    • The average person utilizes only 30 to 40 percent of his or her visual potential.
    • Pully, Superior Oblique Muscle, Superior Rectus Muscle, Optic Nerve, Inferior Rectus Muscle, Macula, Retina, Lateral Rectus Muscle, Inferior Oblique Muscle, Ciliary Body, Lens, Pupil, Iris, Cornea are terms you need to know.
    • There is no such thing as perfect vision.

Can you read this. This site is about vision. Bates had some interesting ideas. Can you learn to see? This is only 4px. It is small. The idea is that very small print relaxes. You can not see a letter. Your eyes make many fixations to see one letter. The idea of this small print is to get you to see a small area. It is to break the habit of fixation. Somekhow there is learning in the eye. Once it learns something. That is what it does. We are tring to reprogram it to think a different way. It is not so easy as any effort will make it worse.
